Position Summary

**This is a pooled position for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the year and reviewed based on department need. Should a review of your application result in the intent to pursue your candidacy, you will be contacted by phone or email for an interview.

The Continuing Education Instructor is responsible for the planning of course materials, preparation of instruction and attending all scheduled classes. Must possess the ability to manage and teach the course material within the allotted time frame and in a manner that promotes learning and understanding. Must be committed to serve a diverse college community.

Duties & Responsibilities

This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive.  Incumbents may not perform all the duties listed, while in other cases, related duties may also be assigned.

  • Provides effective instruction that encompasses active and meaningful learning activities and frequent and timely feedback to students regarding their progress.
  • Develops course curriculum, materials/handouts, lectures, and/or labs, and updates regularly to ensure relevancy and currency; selects required course resources and textbooks, as necessary.
  • Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment.
  • May attend mandatory Continuing Education instructor training and/or meetings.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have experience in a specific education area applicable for personal enrichment, Business or Industry including but not limited to one or more of the following: personal and life enrichment skills, communication, customer service, human resources, information technology.
  • Educational requirements will vary depending on the course being taught.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience Teaching
  • Experience working in the specified field of teaching.
  • Higher Education degree or experience in the specified field of teaching
