Job Description:        

Reporting to the Director of Oncology, the successful candidate will primarily support hematologic oncology inpatient and outpatient services and teams and be responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of clinical orientation, ensuring the application of evidenced based clinical practices and facilitating quality improvement initiatives and relevant educational programs. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the entire education team and program leadership to ensure that professional standards and best practice are maintained across the program.  

  

Qualifications: 

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required, Masters preferred. 
  • A current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario. 
  • De Souza bio and chemotherapy certification preferred.  
  • 3 - 5 years recent Oncology experience required. 
  • Experience with hematologic oncology preferred. 
  • Critical care experience an asset. 
  • Experience with EPIC and Chemotherapy Regimen builds an asset 
  • Demonstrates commitment to the philosophy and strategies of the Oncology/Palliative Program. 
  • Fosters the integration of professional excellence in clinical practice. 
  • Provides mentorship and support to staff in achieving developmental goals. 
  • Facilitates the change process that supports quality and patient safety. 
  • Expert communication, organizational and time management required. 
  • The ability to employ decision-making, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills is essential. 
  • Advanced preparation in educational strategies and/or adult education.  
  • The ability to provide clinical coaching one to one or in groups is essential. 
  • Proven leadership qualities preferred. 
  • Supports the Patient Care Manager in the selection and appraisal of staff as requested. 
  • Satisfactory attendance and performance record required.
